Rocking on Television (Chapter 5)

"Performing a cover of 'I Write Sins, Not Tragedies' by Panic! at the Disco," announced Lilly into the couch, "you've met them today: A New Yesterday!"
The audience applauded and cheered as the cameras switched to A New Yesterday, who were in front of a lavender-colored display on a short platform. They were sitting on chairs with microphone stands in front of David, Sean and Skye. Kent had a pair of bongos in his lap while Sean and David held acoustic guitars. Skye sat behind a keyboard which she started playing on to begin the song. She sang sweetly into the microphone:

Oh, well imagine
If I pace in the pews of a church corridor and I
Can't help but to hear
No, I can't help but to hear an exchanging of words
What a beautiful wedding
What a beautiful wedding says a bridesmaid to a waiter
What a shame
What a poor shame that the groom's bride is a whore

She paused for a moment then let the boys play their instruments, taking a break from the keyboard.

I chimed in with a "Haven't you people ever heard of
"Closing the doggone door, no"
It's much better to face these kinds of things
With a sense of poise and rationality
I chimed in
Haven't you people ever heard of
Closing the doggone door, no
It's much better to face these kinds of things
With a sense of

Skye began to play the keyboard again.

Poise and rationality
Again...

The guys played their instruments louder when she held the note. Then they played quieter when Skye sang the next line.

I chimed in with a "Haven't you people ever heard of
Closing the doggone door, no"
It's much better to face these kinds of things
With a sense of poise and rationality
I chimed in
Haven't you people ever heard of
Closing the doggone door, no
It's much better to face these kinds of things
With a sense of
Poise and rationality

The guys played their instruments louder when she sang the "again" part. Skye joined in a little with the keyboard until they ended the song with Skye pressing down on one key and David letting the guitar ring. The audience applauded the performance with bright smiles and ear-splitting hoots.
"I love you, Madeline!" Sean hollered into his microphone.
