I Ain't Scared of No Ghost (Chapter 5)

After what seemed to be an hour, the girls came running into the living room at the same time. They were all screaming and their yells had gotten louder when they ran into each other. Soon they calmed down when they realized one another.
"Oh, what a relief," Madeline said, out of breath with her hand on her chest. "It's you guys."
"Why did you leave me?!" Andrea yelled at Debra.
"There was a ghost right in front of us," responded Debra.
"So what? You was just going to let him kill me?"
"I don't wanna die."
"Neither do I!"
"Wait a minute," said Lizzie. "You guys actually saw a real ghost?"
"Yeah," answered Andrea.
"He was all old," Debra described, "and wrinkly and dusty and pale. He looked like he hadn't moisturized in over a hundred years."
"Plus, he almost killed me when Debra pushed me towards him."
"As you may know, I am black and black people run. We head for the hills. We want to live."
"So do I!"
The girls concentrated on something else when they heard a door slam. They all huddled together, along with Sean, and shrieked out of fright. But it turned out that the kids fiercely opened a closet which they were stored in. They walked toward the gang who were shaking and holding one another.
"What are you guys doing?" Krista said.
The group yelped when they heard her voice. Then they all realized whose voice that was and looked at her. The group gave each other some space, except for Sean who was joyously latching onto Madeline. She struggled in his grip but wiggled her arms hard enough to shake him off.
"Where were you guys?" asked Andrea, stepping closer to the children.
"We were in the closet," Leroy responded.
As an impulse, Andrea slapped Leroy across his left cheek. He covered his face to soothe the stinging pain.
"Andrea!" uttered Debra, running over to her brother. "You just slapped my brother in the face!"
"So?"
Debra groaned before looking at her brother. "What were you doing in the closet?"
"Oh, nothing," replied Leroy. "I was just... teaching the girls how to play 'Post Office'."
Debra then slapped Leroy on the same cheek that Andrea smacked him.
"I knew I couldn't trust you, you little playboy," snarled Andrea.
"Aw, man, you got blood on your lip," Debra noticed.
"Oh, that's from Linda," Leroy explained. "She hit me when she didn't want to play the game."
"I taught you well, my little angel," Andrea said to her youngest sister.
"So let me get this straight," said Skye. "You guys went inside the house to play a little game of seven minutes in heaven?"
"What happened to your face?" Krista questioned. "You actually look better. Uh, no, the lightning scared us so we ran inside the house. And the door couldn't open so we went inside the closet when Leroy said that he wanted to, 'show us something'."
"So the ghost didn't bring you inside?" inquired Andrea. "Or at least tried to hurt you?"
"No."
"Good 'cause now I can hurt you. Didn't you hear me calling you?"
"No, the door is thick."
"Your skull is thick. Okay, we need to get out of here because there is a ghost here."
"What? There's no such thing as ghosts."
"Yeah, there is," said Lizzie. "Look, they covered us in blood."
Skye added, "And moved chairs around."
Debra added, "And made fog come out of the rooms."
Sean added, "And took the bodies of skeletons."
And Madeline included, "And pushed me through a hole in the stairs."
"So you're telling me that something cool actually happened inside this house and I missed it?" asked Linda.
"Ghosts aren't cool when they're trying to kill you," said Skye. "You guys should feel lucky."
"I thought I was gonna get lucky," muttered Leroy to himself.
"What you say?" Andrea snapped.
"Nothing."
"Slapping you once was nothing. But slapping you twice is gonna be something."
"Andrea, I think we're done assaulting my brother," said Debra.
"We're done now but it ain't gonna be the last time."
"Look, I'm just glad that we're all safe and sound," admitted Madeline. "Really, the best thing to happen to us is the safety of ourselves and the kids. Therefore, we should be grateful."
"I don't know about that," said Sean. "We could've died. You could've died. And if anything was going to happen, I would've only regretted not sucking face with you. So I'm gonna get my kiss."
"Sean, I know you mean well but there is ab--"
She was interrupted by a squeeze on her chin and a long smack on the lips which Sean planted on her. Everybody stared out of shock and a teeny bit of disgust. He released her, feeling nothing but confidence and leaving Madeline with a surprised look on her face.
"Maddie, are you okay?" asked Lizzie.
Madeline blinked multiple times. "I think so. Totally uncalled for but... not that bad."
"I've been practicing," Sean grinned.
"Yeah, on your pillow," said Skye.
"I'm so jealous," Leroy shared.
"Be jealous 'cause you ain't gonna get nothing," said Andrea.
"You're never gonna get it," Krista sang with a smile.
"I'm gonna tell so many people," Sean admitted.
"You're gonna tell zero people," said Madeline, puckering her forehead.
"But your friends saw this."
"Therefore, they're gonna be the only people who know."
"Can I at least tell my bandmates?"
"Tell anyone and I'll rip off your lips. You will never be able to pronounce words with the letter 'P' ever again."
"I like 'P'."
"Speaking of which, can I use the bathroom?" asked Leroy.
"No, we are getting out of here," Debra responded.
"Yeah, so get a bladder infection," Andrea crossed her arms.
"You don't got to be so mean," said Leroy.
"Little boy, I have the right to be mean to you. Thinkin' you Hugh Hefner or something. More like P.U. Hefner 'cause you stink. That's probably why my sisters didn't want to be near you. But whatever reason, they have a right mind and you don't, cochino. Right now, I could be at a party, meeting someone who looks like you except taller, older and wearing deodorant!"
Then the only lamp in the living room more than twelve yards away from the group fell down by itself and shattered the light bulb inside the shade which fell off before the lamp hit the ground. The noise startled everyone, making some of them scream with terror. Everyone shook and leaped about and panicked, feeling like they were trapped in a box of fear.
"I'm peeing! I'm peeing!" Lizzie hollered while hopping up and down.
Debra was the first to run. She pushed Andrea out the way then bolted towards the door. The rest of the gang ran and caught up to Debra. She twisted the doorknob to open the door but it popped off like a dislocated shoulder.
"Oh, we're trapped!" Debra said in tears, staring at the rusting doorknob in her hand.
"Oh, no, we're not," Andrea denied. "Stand back."
Debra moved behind Andrea and watched her kick the whole door down, exposing the brilliance of the street lights, making everything seem clearer.
"See, I'm helpful," Andrea looked at Debra before being the first one out of the haunted house.
Everyone else rushed out and made a long distance away from the creepy mansion just to be far from the spirits that rested inside.

I Ain't Scared of No Ghost (Chapter 4)

Slowly, the gang entered the creepy, menacing house, opening the ear-splitting door and taking little steps inside. Together, they walked into the center of the dark living room, only to be lit a bit by the streetlights from outside. Even though it was dark, the furniture looked as if it was the same color as the walls and floor.
"Look at us, we're in," Lizzie said. "Now let's go."
She attempted to run away but Andrea grabbed her by the arm.
"Not until we find the kids," reminded Andrea through her teeth.
"Alright, we're not going to find them all at once," declared Madeline, "so let's split up into groups. Preferably of two. So Andrea, go with Debbie. Skye can go with Lizzie. And I will go with... Aw, heck, no."
Sean chuckled slyly. "I guess it's fate."
"No, it's my brain fart kicking me in the back."
"Doesn't matter," said Skye. "As long as we find the kids, we let each other know and get the frick out of here."
"Yeah, alright. Andy, Debbie, you two go upstairs. Skye and Lizzie, stay this floor. And me and... Sean will go see if there's a downstairs."
"Sounds like a plan," Lizzie consented. "I just want to let you guys that I love you, I wish you all the best and I hope--"
Right there, the front door slammed close, darkening the living room slightly more and making the gang a bit jumpy.
"Oh, screw you guys! I'm gonna pee on myself! Come on, Skye!"
Lizzie ran towards Skye interlocked her arm with hers before pulling her out of the living room into the open door across the group. Skye muttered, "Ow!" as the frightened Lizzie forced her away.
So Madeline and Sean searched for a door to a basement while Andrea and Debra went upstairs into the top level of the gloomy mansion.
"Leroy," Debra whispered. "Leroy. Are you here, Leroy?"
"Why are you whispering?" asked Andrea.
"I don't want to disturb any... disturbances."
"Girl, there is no such thing as ghosts."
"Then where is Leroy and the girls?"
"They probably had to use the bathroom. Small teens have small bladders, you know."
"Why would they use the bathroom together?"
"I don't know. There's probably another-- Oh, heck, naw! That better not be happening." Andrea marched toward a closed door in the plain hallway. "Is this it?" She forcefully kicked the door open, not injuring her strong foot. "Linda, are you in here?" she yelled into the silent room.
Debra stepped closer to Andrea to get a peek of the room as well. But the only thing that came out of the room was tons of smoke that almost blinded the girls. It kept coming and coming, blowing the girls' hair back like crisp wind.
"Go away!" moaned an old man's voice.
The girls stood solid until Andrea became brave enough to reach for the doorknob and close the door. She turned around to face Debra who had a face of shock which matched hers.
"The man thinks that we should go away," she repeated calmly.
Meanwhile, Lizzie and Skye searched the dining room, unaware of what was happening upstairs. They walked around the dinner table, calling the kids' names.
"Lisa," whispered Lizzie, "Christina, are you guys anywhere?"
"Those are not their names," Skye mentioned.
"So what are you? Are you like a corpse or something?"
"I'm Gerard Way!"
"Is he dead?"
"No, this is how he used to look."
"So he's a zombie? Like that guy from Warm Bodies?"
"No. You guys are getting my nerves, not knowing who Gerard Way is. He is famous!"
The girls' attention turned to the dinner table which snapped at its two legs on the end. The table fell and the objects on top, including plates and utensils, slid down and off it, shattering on the hard wooden floor.
"Why did you break the table?" asked Lizzie.
"I didn't touch the table," Skye looked at her friend.
"Then why did it break?"
"I don't know but if you haven't noticed, there were cobwebs all over the half-eaten food. My guess, a family ate this dinner, left to eat better dinner and never came back in thirty years."
"So what you're saying is that a family lives at a restaurant now?"
"You know what? Maybe I did break it. So let's just leave it like that and continue our search."
Skye walked pass Lizzie so Lizzie had to follow her. Skye opened the door on the right side of the dining hall and just a second after pulling the door towards her, a flock of bats shot out of the door and flew over the girls' heads. They ducked, listening to the squeaking of the sudden, eerie bats. Lizzie screamed and flailed her arms until every bat possible was out of the next room. They all flew out of the dining hall to never be seen again.
"Oh, my God!" Lizzie said. "I'm going to pee on myself."
"Just relax, Lizzie," demanded Skye. "Just calm down."
"No, Skye, you don't understand. I'm gonna pee on myself. And I'm wearing a latex suit tight as a day so you know the pee won't settle right."
"Listen, the house is obviously old. Of course it would have a few bats chilling somewhere."
"Few? A few? Skye, you can make a marching band with those bats. I didn't need to count them to know that that was just not 'a few'. Okay, this place is haunted."
"This place is not haunted. Haunted houses do not exist."
Lizzie's eyes widened as she witnessed a chair from the broken table moving by itself around the girls. Skye turned her head when she saw Lizzie focusing hard on something else. The chair slowly progressed into the next room; the door closed with nobody touching it.
Skye quickly turned her head to look at Lizzie. "Some days I'm wrong."
Lizzie shut her eyes tightly. "Like a good neighbor, StateFarm is there!"
"What are you doing?"
"Calling for help."
"Liz', just--" Skye didn't bother saying anything else. She just grabbed Lizzie's hand and ran out of the dining room with her.
In the meantime, Madeline and Sean found the basement in the gloomy mansion. They searched high and low for the kids. Sean was nothing but excited to be spending time with Madeline. Madeline, on the other hand, was not looking forward to it. He was right behind her as they roamed.
"Krista! Linda! Leroy!" Madeline called in a sweetened voice. "Where are you? Please come out and don't take your time."
"Hey, what's the rush?" asked Sean.
Madeline glanced at him. "You know the rush."
"I'm gonna check that lamp over there."
"Okay."
Sean walked over the lamp he was able to see that stood against the wall. He dug into the shade to feel for a switch. Once he found it, he turned it on. The light that shined from the bulb was weak but useful. It was strong enough to show the message, "Get out or else" written in blood on the wall. White with silent terror, Sean turned the lamp off. He walked over to Madeline who looked at him in confusion.
"Why did you turn the lamp off?" she asked.
Sean shook his head then lied, "We don't need it."
Madeline patted on Sean's arm once she was a wiggling chair turned to its back. "It's the kids," she whispered.
The two walked closer towards the chair.
"Alright, the jig is up," she said louder. "It's time to go home, Leroy."
Madeline quickly turned the chair which was awfully light. Immediately she spotted what was sitting in the chair which was a moving realistic skeleton, rotting at the bones and dust falling off of them. Madeline shrieked and quickly zipped into Sean's arms.
Sean petted Madeline's back and hair. "It's okay, Maddie. It's okay. It's so okay."
Madeline tried to pull away but Sean held on very tightly. She managed to break loose and push Sean on the chest to keep him away.
"Get off me, dude," she said with a glare. She fixed her blazer by pulling it down. "You smell like corn chips."
The two looked at the bag of bones which stood up and tried to walk like a baby's first steps. Madeline's fear came back, running through her veins, and she ran into Sean's arms again. She shrieked again as the skeleton, moving its jaw up and down, approached them.
Sean pushed the skeleton away when it was arm's length. "Get away from her, man," he ordered.
The skeleton jumped back but still continued to walk forward. Sean pushed it again then balled his hand into a fist and bopped it on the head. The skeleton fell apart, snapping at every joint. It descended into a pile of helpless dusty bones which puffed a cloud of dirt.
"Stupid skeleton," Sean commented. "Can't even fight back."
Still holding Madeline, Sean turned around so the two could walk back. But right in front of them was another skeleton with the same bone structure. The two yelped as the second skeleton raised his arms and like a zombie, approached Madeline and Sean who backed up away from it.
"We're gonna die!" said Madeline, about to cry. "I'm too fabulous to die."
"I know you are," Sean agreed.
"I never got to be an actress or a lawyer or the first female president of the United States. Everybody knows I'm better than Hilary."
"I never got to play the guitar in front of thousands of people. I never even kissed a girl."
"How old are you?"
"Seventeen."
"Oh, poor shame."
"Give it to me."
"What?"
"Give me my first kiss."
"No way, Kid Rock. I don't like you."
"It doesn't matter. Besides, we're gonna die anyway and I would like to experience the suction of the fleshy lumps on a woman's pure face."
"This is why I don't like you. It's because you say stuff like that."
"Please, Madeline."
Madeline glanced at the bag of bones which was moving faster, coming closer. "Can you hurry up, skeleton?"
"Madeline--"
"I would like to die today, please."

All the way upstairs, Debra and Andrea ignored the voice and smoke that expelled from that room. So they carried on with the search. As they made quick steps down the endless hallway, a cane, carved for an old man, began hovering from its case which included a few umbrellas and feather dusters. Steadily, it drifted down the hallway, following the girls. It flew faster to catch up with them and when it had gotten close enough, the cane hooked on Debra's ankle, making her trip. She put out her hands before hitting the ground so she wouldn't hurt herself that much.
"Ow!" she uttered. "Andrea, you tripped me."
Andrea stopped walking. "I did not trip you."
"I felt your foot on my ankle."
"Listen, don't get all cranky with me. We're gonna find your playboy of a brother. So find your safe place or whatever it's called."
"You're just taking your anger out on me because you don't trust my brother hanging around your sisters all by themselves."
"That is not true. I don't trust your brother so that part is true. But other than that, I did not trip you. Alright, I'm sorry you even fell."
The cane hooked itself on Andrea's ankle and pulled backwards to make her stumble the way that Debra did.
"Geez, Debs', I said I was sorry." Andrea quickly lifted her head up to look at her friend.
"That wasn't me," Debra said.
The girls looked behind themselves to see the cane just floating in the air. It took a while but the girls looked at each other and screamed. Andrea bounced up and planted her feet on the floor to run with Debra. The cane bolted towards the girls and eventually threw itself at the back of Debra's head. The impact made Debra tumble down, causing Andrea to cease and help her friend in need.
"Are you alright, girl?" Andrea asked, putting her arms under Debra's arms from behind and lifting her up.
"Yeah, I can take a hit," Debra reminded. She helped herself up as well by getting her feet flat on the floor covered with a long, ugly rug.
"You know, when it comes to situations like this, we got to stick together."
"I totally agree. If one of us goes, the other has to go."
"That's what I'm talking about."
Instantly, the door next to them popped opened. And lots of smoke expelled out before a tall man in a coat, with the look of an age past 100, walked out and gave the girls a heart-stopping stare.
"Who are you to disturb my humble abode?" he asked in a deep voice; his voice echoing off the walls.
"Uh, she did," Debra responded quickly before pushing Andrea towards the ghastly man. She ran off into the hallway as fast as she could.
Andrea almost slipped but she didn't fall. She began running in the same direction as Debra, almost as fast as her. "Hey! Hey, don't leave me here!" she hollered into the hall.

"Girls! Leroy!" Skye shouted inside the den. "We know you're in here! Just come out!"
"If you stop hiding," started Lizzie, "we'll give you Trix. We hear it's for kids."
"Leroy, if you come out right now, I'll let you touch Lizzie's butt."
"What?! No! That's pedophilia. Or reverse pedophilia if he's doing it to me. Either way, nuh-uh!"
"Well, we got to think of something to get them out of here."
"We can draw them out with candy."
"Something a pedophile would say. Do you even have candy?"
"Yeah." Lizzie stuck her fingers into her catsuit and pulled out a mini candy bar. "Some of the guys in the neighborhood gave me some when we took the kids trick-or-treating."
"Okay, if some of your candy come in small plastic containers, don't eat those." Skye swiped the chocolate bar out of Lizzie's talon-manicured hand. "Plus, the kids already have tons of candy. They're probably in the closet eating all of it right now."
Suddenly, a butcher knife shot out of nowhere and stabbed the piece of candy out of Skye's hand. The knife and candy got stuck on the wall behind the girls like an arrow shot from a bow.
"Does that mean they still want it?" asked Lizzie.
"L-Let's-- Let's just get out of here."
Skye grabbed Lizzie's hand and pulled her towards the door. Once she opened it, a mysterious wave of cherry colored blood splashed upon the girls, drenching their faces and the front of their costumes.
"Yep, that's the last straw," Skye said calmly with her eyes closed.
She dragged Lizzie out of the room and blindly into the hall on their right.
"I don't think ghosts like candy," shared Lizzie.
Down in the basement, Madeline, who in Sean's arms, and Sean, who enjoyed every minute of holding her, were still facing the intimidating, live skeleton. They kept backing up until they hit the wall behind themselves. They felt like that they were at the end of a tunnel with no way out. And that bag of bones kept coming closer and closer.
"I just want to let you know that I love you, Maddie," confessed Sean.
"And I want to let you know that I don't," Madeline admitted.
"I guess this is it."
Madeline turned her head to the right. "Not quite."
She wiggled her arms to loosen herself from Sean's tight grip. She leaped over to the dirty broom that leaned against the couch. She picked it up by the stick and held it over her shoulder. She then jumped in front of Sean and swung the broom at the skeleton like a baseball bat hitting a ball. The delicate skeleton shattered and burst its bones all over the floor.
"Wow, that was really awesome, Madeline," Sean remarked.
"Thank you," Madeline rested the broom on her shoulder.
"You must be really good at baseball."
"I'm not sure about that."
"Have you ever made it to third base?"
Madeline held the broom by the end of its handle and pointed at Sean's face. "Shut up or I'm gonna poke you in the eye with this broomstick."
"Understood."
"Listen, I'm done with the basement. The kids cannot be here so let's go wait in the living room."
Madeline threw the broom across the basement and began to head for the stairs. Sean sprinted up behind Madeline and tried to get as close as he could. With Sean in the back, Madeline walked up the stairs. They were pretty silent until she met the middle and a really loud creaking noise was heard. When she hit the seventh step, the center of the stairs caved in. Madeline dropped as her leg got stuck in the new hole of the step. She screamed once she fell but screamed again when more steps broke, making the hole bigger and Madeline's lower half of her body sank in. She hung onto the sturdy steps in front of her in case she felt like she was really going to descend.
"Sean, help me!" she begged.
"Oh, Madeline, I will never forget you."
"You won't have to if you help me. Help!"
"Okay, just let me... step around for a second."
Sean began walked around the hole in the stairs by sticking his feet in the rails. He gradually walked up the railway, pulling his feet out from between two rails and sticking them into the next set of rails. Once he got near the second step from the hole, Sean carefully landed on the step.
"Hurry up!" Madeline demanded, shutting her eyes very tightly. "I'm about to drop in an endless pit of nothingness."
"Stop making falsifications."
"Just help me already!"
Sean crouched down and gripped Madeline by the wrists. She held onto his wrists as well for a firm clutch.
"Now pull me up," she said.
"You know, when we touch, it's like thunder."
"I'm about to strike you like thunder if you don't pull me up."
Sean rolled his eyes then used all of his strength to hoist Madeline from the dark hole in the stairs. For more than a minute, Sean pulled Madeline out enough for her to get her feet on the sturdy steps near the top. She then ran up the stairs with Sean following and the two made it out the door.
Madeline stopped and turned around to hug Sean compassionately. "Oh, thank you, Sean. Thank you so much. You saved me."
"Am I your hero now?"
"Yes."
"Can I kiss you now?"
Madeline pressed her hand on Sean's lips. "I'll find a way to thank you."

I Ain't Scared of No Ghost (Chapter 3)

Later, the girls, and Sean, took the kids trick-or-treating for several blocks in the neighborhood. It had been approximately an hour and a half and the kids' bags were almost overflowing with confections. Calling it a day as the party was about to begin, the gang walked the kids back to Debra's house so they can take them home and make it to the party on time.
"I think you look really pretty," confessed Leroy to Linda.
"You do?" Linda smiled.
"Of course because you almost look exactly like Andrea and Andrea fine. So that's why I think that. Also, I like your get-up."
"Thank you!"
"You're welcome. And since I'm Jesus, want to be my angel?"
Andrea walked faster to get closer to her sister and Debra's brother. "Remember, angels are pure," she said. "They're sacred, they're clean and they've been sprinkled with holy water so they can't do anything impractical."
"Angels can also walk on water," added Lizzie. "I read that in the bible. They're like Ryan Lochte. Hold on, is Ryan Lochte an angel?"
Madeline made a face, ignoring the question. Her movements caught the attention of Skye's bandmate, Sean.
"You look really pretty as well, Madeline," he said.
"Thank you," Madeline smiled, "but I think you already told me that."
"Did I? I'm sorry. I just think about how pretty you are every day. I mean I don't think about you every day. Maybe once a week or a month. But when I do, I think about how pretty you are and maybe that's why I keep saying it. But you already know you're pretty so I don't need to keep reminding you. I don't want to bother you but here you are. No need to think about you but I do anyway. Not every day but once in a while. I don't think about you when I sit in my bath bombs."
"Sean, I'm gonna move away from you now." Madeline did not hesitate to walk away from Sean and start walking in-between Skye and Debra.
"That's fair. Yeah, no, that's fair. No, that's fair."
"So who are you?" Krista asked Skye. "Like I know you're Skye, Andrea's friend, but what is your costume? Like be specific please."
"I'm Gerard Way," Skye answered. "He was the lead singer of My Chemical Romance."
"What's My Chemical Romance?" asked Andrea.
"It was a rock band."
"Never heard of them."
"Well, a lot of people heard of them. They saved lives."
"Were they firefighters?"
"No, they were a band."
"So what did they save lives with?"
"Their music."
"One time, I almost choked on a Skittle. I didn't see their music coming to the rescue."
Skye scrunched her lips to hold in the anger that was going to arrive from inside her body.
"What time is it?" asked Lizzie.
Madeline checked her silver watch. "Almost thirty past eight."
"It's thirty O'clock?"
"No, that means it's 8:30. If we take the kids home now by car and get to the party afterwards, we'll be there before the cool kids come."
"I can't wait to get my shimmy on," Andrea shared.
"I wish I was there to see it," commented Leroy.
"Mind your business, Bobby E. Johnson."
"Can't wait to eat your candy, guys?" inquired Lizzie.
"No way," said Linda. "Once I get my foot through the door, I'm gonna open up a candy bar."
"Not until we get another one from that house," said Krista, stopping and pointing across the gang to the right.
The rest of the group stopped to gaze at what Krista was pointing at. They set their eyes on an old, black mansion which screamed, "terror". It looked like if someone were to touch it, the whole thing would cave in. And it seemed that all of the night's cloud grouped together only above that house.
"We have to go there."
"Oh, no, we not!" said Andrea.
"It's practically the only house we didn't go to."
"Doesn't mean that's going to be our last."
"I never even noticed that," admitted Sean with wide eyes.
"Me neither. And just because we noticed it now doesn't mean we're going to it now. We have to take you home."
"What are you, afraid?" questioned Krista.
Andrea scoffed. "No, I'm not afraid. Nothing scares Andrea Rosa Melinda Alejandra Martina Jenni Cantina Gonzalez."
Lizzie stopped to think."Who's that?" she asked.
Andrea made a face at her before giving her full attention to her sister.
"Andrea, it's just going to be me, Linda and Leroy going up to the house anyway so you have nothing to worry about," said Krista.
Andrea sighed then rolled her eyes. "Fine, but this is the last house. Now go. Hurry up."
The younger teenagers ran together up to the tall, terrifying house, going up the creaky steps onto the weak porch. The group watched the kids as Krista rang the doorbell. They waited along with the kids for a reply.
"This house seems very unsettling," commented Madeline.
"I know," agreed Debra. "It's making me itch."
Krista rang the doorbell a second time.
"What's taking so long?" Andrea yelled.
"They haven't answered the door yet," Krista yelled back. "Stop yelling!"
"Pssh! You're yelling!"
"Listen, they need to hurry up," said Madeline, "because I'm starting to itch, too."
Krista raised her finger to press the doorbell again. But before she could do that, the door slowly opened, creaking as it stretched only by four inches. The kids glanced at each other, confused about what was happening.
"Hello?" Krista called.
"What's going on?" Andrea hollered.
Debra turned to Andrea. "Andy, relax. This will only take a se--"
All of the sudden, thunder clashed and illuminated the sky for only a second. The noise and light startled the gang, making some of them jump and scream. They didn't know what to do as they all immediately became distracted. They all soon got of their haze and looked at the house, knowing that that is where the thunder came from. They noticed what was missing from the house was the kids.
"Wh-Where are the kids?!" asked Andrea.
"Maybe they ran away," guessed Lizzie.
"Or went inside the house which is haunted," added Madeline.
"That's nonsense," said Skye. "That house is not haunted."
"Then where are the kids?!" Andrea's voice raised.
"Oh, my God," Lizzie whined.
"Oh, Lord! That house took my hermanas!"
"And my brother," added Debra.
"I don't care about your brother, Debra."
"But I do. We need to go in there."
"And die?" inquired Madeline. "I don't think so. I'm too fabulous to die, okay?"
"It's okay," said Sean, raising his arms for a hug. "I'll protect you."
"Touch me and you'll die."
Sean dropped his arms and looked away.
"This can't be!" said Andrea in a quivering voice. "I'm gonna kill that house."
"I don't think that's possible," said Skye.
"I agree with Debra. My sisters are in the house and we need to get them."
"Why?" asked Lizzie. "They're not our sisters."
"So? You guys are like sisters to me. Except for you, Sean. You're more like a pet."
"Understood," Sean mumbled.
"Listen, we're all witnesses. So the best thing for you guys to do is to help me get them."
"Witnesses?" Madeline inquired. "We didn't see them go in that house. I need to have a word with my lawyer."
"Madeline, if you don't suck it up, I'm going to need a lawyer when I kill you before the house does."
"Ugh! Fine! We'll go in because we love you."
"And me," added Debra. "My brother's in there, too."
"Debra, nobody cares about your brother."

I Ain't Scared of No Ghost (Chapter 2)

The next day, within the evening, all of the girls got dressed up in their chosen and confirmed costumes. Madeline decided to dress up as Cher Horowitz, the main character from the movie Clueless. She wore a yellow plaid blazer with a matching skirt, a pale yellow sweater underneath, white knee socks and silver kitten heels. She even straightened her wavy hair to get the look right. Lizzie walked out of the house with a black nun attire on. But underneath it was a skintight, navy latex catsuit made for vixens. Before pulling off in her car, Lizzie replaced her loafers with knee-high leather boots with high heels and replaced her cap with a navy headband with fuzzy cat ears. Andrea dressed up as Snooki from the Jersey Shore, giving her hair some height and wearing a short dress which was her leopard suit but cut up. Debra dressed as what she promised which was a sunflower: a tight green suit with a hoodie with yellow petals attached to it. She put on a green skirt and brown combat boots to accessorize it. And Skye decided to dress like Gerard Way, a rock singer. She wore a black wig the same length as her regular hair while wearing a black blazer, a black dress shirt, black slacks, black sneakers and a red tie. She covered her face with white powder to give herself that pale look.
After the girls got dressed, they made their way to Debra's house. Madeline, Lizzie and Andrea used their cars to make their destination. Lizzie picked up Skye on her way there. Madeline was the first to arrive. She parked her car out front and get out to see Debra waiting on the porch. She got up and approached Madeline. The two stopped walking so they wouldn't hit each other.
"Wow, Maddie, you look just like Cher!" Debra complimented.
"Thanks, girl," Madeline responded. "But what about you? I can see your boobies."
Debra blushed and covered her chest with her arm. "No... You think so?"
"Yeah," Madeline nodded. "Girl, that is some serious 'boobage'."
Soon, Andrea drove in, parking her car next to Madeline's car. She hopped out of her car with a big, brown purse and strutted towards the girls. Her high heels made every step audible. And two of the doors on the backside of her car opened with Andrea's younger sisters, Krista and Linda, sliding out. Krista, the thirteen-year-old, wore a cute, red devil costume which came with a red pitchfork. Linda, the ten-year-old, wore an angel's attire, clothed in a white, long dress and wearing a golden headband with a plastic halo attached. They sprinted up and walked behind Andrea until she stopped.
"Wow!" Debra and Madeline cooed.
"Hey, kids," Debra waved. "Those are some fantastic costumes."
"That is one nice Snooki get-up," commented Madeline.
"Thank you," Andrea smiled. Then she said in an attempted Jersey accent, "I mean thanks. Whatever. Party's here. Where's the Smush Room?" Andrea pulled out a can of hairspray from her open purse and started spraying it all over her pumped hair.
Debra and Madeline choked in the cloud of hairspray as it expanded in the air. Debra stepped towards Andrea and swiped the can from her.
"This is bad for the environment," said Debra, holding up the can.
Andrea slid her brown sunglasses off her eyes just a bit to expose her mascara eyes. She gave Debra a "Really?" look before pushing the sunglasses back on properly.
Next came Lizzie in her cute, red car, coming in hot. She stopped right after driving her car into a neighbor's trashcan. She parked her car right on the lot and the sidewalk. She got out of the car with Skye getting out of the opposite side. Then a boy with a buzzcut opened the door in the back and scooted out. He followed the girls who approached their exuberant friends.
"Lizzie, you just knocked my neighbor's trashcan off the sidewalk," said Debra.
"Oh, yeah, will he be able to use it?" she asked in a worried tone.
"Just forget about it," Madeline insisted. "Look at you! You probably look better than me."
Lizzie posed in her sensual outfit. "Why thank you. I can barely breathe but it will all totally be worth it."
"Hi, Madeline," greeted Skye's friend, Sean, who moved up to be more seen.
"Oh, hi, Sean," Madeline said through a weak grin.
"You look fantastic. You look like an Irish sun."
"Good to know. Skye, can I talk to you for a minute?"
Skye walked closer to Madeline in her usual chill manner. "What's up?"
Madeline interlocked her arm with Skye's. "Why is Sean here?" Madeline asked quietly.
"He wanted to go trick-or-treating with us."
"So?"
"So the rest of the guys aren't. He was feeling a bit lonely. Have a heart once in your life."
"Oh, I have plenty of hearts. You know that I don't have a personal problem with Sean... but he creeps me out."
"How do you think I feel? Listen, if you weren't so single all the time, maybe he would get the message. That's all I'm saying."
"Skye, you know I'm not a mean-spirited person so I'm gonna let this one slide. But not again next time, you hear?"
"I got it, Maddie."
The two stepped closer to the group after their private conversation. Madeline tried to be polite by smiling at Sean but not too much.
"Are we all set?" asked Andrea.
"Wait a second," commanded Debra. "My brother is still in the house." She walked towards her bungalow's door and knocked on it a few times. "Leroy!" she hollered.
She walked back to her friends to shortly wait for her brother who soon came out with a Jesus Christ costume, wearing a tan robe, sandals, a long, brunet wig with a long beard attached.
"Hi, Leroy!" Lizzie smiled. "You look totes holy."
"Thanks but you look fine yourself, honey," Leroy commented. "Or should I say, 'honey melons'?"
Lizzie's face froze. "What?"
"Leroy, stop harassing my friend," Debra demanded.
"I'm sorry, Debra," said Leroy, "but all your girls look super duper fly. Except for Skye. Who are you supposed to be? Somebody from the Addams Family?"
Skye scrunched her eyebrows. "No, I'm Gerard Way."
"Who's Gerard Way?" asked Andrea.
"A famous singer."
"If he's famous, how come I've never heard of him?"
"Because you listen to meringue and hip hop."
"Sorry I like to drop it like it's hot."
"Don't be afraid to drop that thun-thun-thun anytime, babe," said Leroy, trying to peek at Andrea's backside.
Andrea squinted her eyes at Leroy. "Keep your eyes to yourself or you're going to see Jesus Christ yourself."
"Ooh, feisty. I like 'em feisty."
"She was supposed to be a cat," Lizzie merrily mentioned.

I Ain't Scared of No Ghost (Chapter 1)

Madeline clicked on all of her friends' usernames on Skype and requested a video chat with them all at once. She sat her cotton candy pink laptop on top of her thighs as she sat down on her bed made for a royal princess. She looked into the web camera and fixed her blonde waves, waiting for her girlfriends to reply. Almost instantly within one minute, all of the girls answered, their faces popping up on small screens in the center of the application.
"Hey!" Lizzie was the first to say something.
"Hey!" Madeline responded.
The rest of girls greeted each other as well.
"Alright, guess what tomorrow is," Madeline demanded.
"New Jersey Day?" Lizzie guessed.
"Why would you think it's New Jersey Day?" asked Skye.
"I don't know. I was watching TV and New Jersey was mentioned so I thought, 'Oh, maybe tomorrow is New Jersey Day'."
"Well, it's not, Liz'," said Madeline.
"Oh."
"Tomorrow is Halloween."
"Oh, even better!"
"Any you guys have gotten your costumes yet?"
"Yeah," replied Andrea, "I got a leopard suit 'cause I'm going as a leopard. Meow!" She gestured like a cat.
"Nice. Very sexy."
"Didn't you go as a cat last year for Halloween?" asked Skye.
"Yes, but tomorrow's different," said Andrea. "I'm going as a leopard which is a type of cat."
"Yeah, like that's a difference."
"Well, what are you going as?"
"I'm going as the Bride of Frankenstein."
"I always wonder," shared Lizzie. "Why do they call her a bride? Did she never get married?"
"I don't know."
"Well, I think they couldn't have anyway. I think it's illegal for ministers to marry monsters."
"Okay."
"I actually like that idea, Skye," commented Madeline. "It reminds me of Cady from Mean Girls."
"You know what? I can go as something else."
"But I thought you wanted to be Frankenstein's bride," said Lizzie.
"Well, people change their minds."
"What are you going as, Debra?" asked Madeline.
"That's easy," said Debra in her calm voice. "I'm going as a golden sunflower, one of my favorite flowers of all."
"That's cute. What is Leroy going as?"
"Jesus. Black Jesus."
"There's a Black Jesus?" asked Lizzie.
"At my church, there is."
"Since Leroy is going as Jesus, does that mean he's going to behave?" asked Andrea.
"Of course. You have nothing to worry about."
"Are you sure?" Skye questioned. "He always looks at us like sandwiches."
"It's going to be fine. Don't worry."
"Okay 'cause I don't want to have to bring my pepper spray," mentioned Andrea.
"You are not going to pepper spray an eleven-year-old."
"Uh, you don't know. Plus, this is America."
"With laws, Andrea."
"Something she has never heard before," Skye commented softly.
"How bout this? So none of you have to worry about my brother's flirtation, how about I set him up with one of your sisters?" Debra asked Andrea.
"I am not going to come home one day to witness my sister playing 'Post Office' with your brother," she responded.
"What is 'Post Office'?" asked Lizzie.
"Look it up."
"Okay." The screen shows Lizzie putting her laptop down before attempting to get up.
"No, stay, Lizzie," ordered Madeline.
"It was just a suggestion," said Debra.
"Well, suggest that to someone else," said Andrea. "I don't want my sister coming home with a hickey."
"Ew!" uttered Lizzie.
"I can't think of pre-teenagers making out, man," shared Skye, rubbing her forehead. "What were we talking about before this?"
"Halloween costumes," reminded Madeline. "Lizzie, what are you going to be?"
"Well, my mom wants me to be a nun," answered Lizzie.
"Figures," Skye raised her eyebrows quickly.
"But under my nun-iform, I'm going to be a black cat. Me-ouch!"
"Hey, I'm going as a cat," said Andrea.
"I thought you said you were going to be a leopard," reminded Skye. "Different thing, remember?"
"Alright, you got me there."
"I just want to look good for DeMarcus," Lizzie confessed.
"I want to look good for any hottie with some money," Madeline shared. "I'm torn between Cinderella and Cher Horowitz but I'll figure it out at the end of the night.  I want us to be whatever we want but at the same time to not clash. I want all eyes on me at Kari's Halloween party."
"If you want everybody to look at you, just tuck your dress or skirt in the back of your pantyhose," Skye recommended.
"I want good eyes. Not bad eyes."
"Listen, we will all have our costumes planned out by tonight," promised Andrea. "I guarantee we'll be prepared for the party and be the hottest people there."
"I couldn't agree with that more," assented Debra.
Madeline giggled. "Alright. And remember: we all meet up at Debra's house."
"Got it," said Lizzie.
"Right there with you," Andrea added.
"I'm gonna find another costume that isn't related to Mean Girls," admitted Skye.
"Whatever floats your boat, Janis," said Madeline.
"I told you, don't call me that."
