Getting Cheated On (Chapter 5)

"Are you still upset about Kevin?" asked Madeline.
"Yeah, I am," Andrea answered, twirling her spoon endlessly in a cup of strawberry yogurt.
"Maybe you should stop thinking about him."
"It's hard to stop thinking about him when you keep talking about him."
"I'm just doing a job, girl."
"I'm so mad at Kevin for cheating on you," admitted Debra.
"Hey, that's what I get," said Andrea. "I cheated on a cool guy to be with Kevin and now, he cheated on some girl to be with me. I guess what goes around comes back around."
"Hey, don't compare Kevin to Justin Timberlake!" said Lizzie. "Kevin is bad, Justin is good."
Skye made a face of confusion.
"Andrea, don't think of it that way," said Debra. "I mean, sure, you shouldn't have cheated on him in the first place. But you changed and you thought he did, too. You two loved each other but I guess some people don't change."
"It's so crazy," remarked Andrea. "I remember years when I would brag, 'I'm dating Kevin Christie!'. Now there's nothing to brag about. What can I say about that jerk? I'm so glad I dumped him."
"You didn't really dump him," noticed Lizzie. "You just threw his phone at his foot."
"It's the same thing."
"Listen, I'm glad that you and Kevin are done," confessed Skye. "I didn't think he was right for you at all. Now that you see this side of him, you guys can stop fooling around."
"If he wasn't right for me at all, why didn't you stop me?"
"Because he made you happy. How do you tell a friend to stop being happy?"
"Aw, Skye..."
"Don't start."
"Skye's right," agreed Debra. "I never liked Kevin and I like everyone."
"I should've seen the signs," admitted Andrea. "But nope, I was in it too deep."
"Don't blame yourself too much, Andrea," said DeMarcus. "Kevin was a manipulative fool. It's his fault that you loved him. I can never imagine cheating on Lizzie. She has been so good to me and she doesn't deserve such deception. I know that one day someone will care for you like the way I care for Lizzie."
"Aw, DeMarcus. That's so sweet."
"Yeah, it is," Lizzie cooed, gripping onto his arm with both hands.
"Because it's the truth," DeMarcus continued. "I feel like if it wasn't for faith and destination, we would have never met."
"You mean fate and/or destiny," corrected Madeline.
"Oh, yeah, right. But I feel like faith and destination had something to do with it, too. I mean I had faith that I would find somebody special and if my destination wasn't that Fourth of July party, I would have never had the chance to speak to Lizzie. Either way, I found her and I'm the luckiest brother in the world."
"Oh," Lizzie melted. "I love you, my Oreo."
"And you know I love you, too, my Italian wedding cookie."
"Aw," uttered Madeline, "that's the first time you two said, 'I love you' to each other."
"No, we've said, 'I love you' way earlier," Lizzie rectified.
"Oh. Well, why didn't you call me before you said it?"
"Because they didn't need to, third wheel," Skye responded.
"Your aunt is cooler than you."

Getting Cheated On (Chapter 4)

The day after, Lizzie tried not to tell Andrea about Kevin's unfaithful ways. However, she still stuck with her plan which involved her boyfriend, DeMarcus, and Kevin. Lizzie learned what class Kevin had last so she told DeMarcus to catch him around that room. When school ended, Lizzie found Andrea and begged her to help her find something before dragging her along. Meanwhile, DeMarcus ran all the way to Room 225 and luckily caught Kevin as one of the last people coming out.
"Hey, hey, hey!" DeMarcus called, grabbing Kevin by the arms to grab his attention.
"Oh, hey," Kevin said. "DeMarcus, right?"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. What's up, player?"
"Nothing much."
"Hey, you're the one dating that girl, Andrea, right?"
"That is correct."
"Yeah, the thick, Latina one?"
"Yeah, that's her."
"Awesome, awesome. Listen, word on the street..." DeMarcus looked side to side to see if anyone was watching. "... is that you got another chick on the side."
"What? No. No way, man."
"Come on! You can tell me. Man-o to man-o."
"You're dating Lizzie Duvall."
"That's right, dude."
"Did she tell you anything?"
"What? No! That girl don't tell me nothing. But, uh, why would she say something?"
Now Kevin had his foot in his own mouth. "Uh, because--"
"So it is true!"
"Fine! It is. I'm cheating on Andrea. So I guess you think I'm scum now, huh?"
"No way! Not at all, man."
"Really?"
"Yeah. If I can be honest with you, I was thinking about two-timing Lizzie myself."
"You want to cheat on Lizzie Duvall?"
"Of course, man. She's so-- She-- She's so-- I mean she's-- I just don't like her anymore, man. But I don't want to get rid of her since she's so fine and all. Sometimes you need two people to do the same job. You know what I'm sayin'?"
"I guess so."
Around that time, Lizzie arrived by the hall in which Kevin and DeMarcus was situated with Andrea. To prevent Andrea from saying anything, Lizzie covered Andrea's mouth with her hand. "Just listen," she whispered into Andrea's ear before she forced her to watch the two boys quietly.
"So how do you do it?" questioned DeMarcus.
"Do what?" asked Kevin. "Cheat on Andrea?"
Andrea's eyes widened.
"Yeah," said DeMarcus. "How do you cheat on her successfully?"
"Uh, I don't know if I should be telling this," Kevin said unsure.
"Come on, Kev'. Brother to brother. From other mothers. How do you get away with it?"
"You really want to know?"
DeMarcus nodded.
Kevin reached into both of his jeans' front pockets and, at the same time, pulled out two smartphones, one black and the other gray. "I got two phones," he confessed.
"One for the plug and one for the load?"
"I got two phones."
"One for the women and one for the dough?"
Lizzie released her hand from Andrea's mouth to let her do her own thing.
"You got two phones?" Andrea asked angrily.
Kevin looked over to his right to see his "girlfriend" standing from afar. He finally realized that he got set up.
"Andrea," he said as she marched towards him.
"You're seeing someone else?" she asked, this time almost weakly.
Kevin froze. "Yeah. Andrea, I didn't mean to hurt you again. I am so sorry."
"And I'm sorry, too... for this."
Andrea snatched the black cell phone from Kevin's right hand and forcefully threw it down on his right foot. Kevin yelped before holding onto his sneaker-clad foot, hopping like a pogo stick.
Andrea turned around, facing Lizzie who ran up to her.
"I'm sorry, Andrea," she said. "I found out yesterday and I wanted to tell you but Kevin said he wanted to tell you. I got confused so I set up this whole thing which might have been a bad idea. I'm genuinely sorry."
"It's okay, Lizzie," said Andrea. "Just... if something like this happens again, can you tell me yourself next time?"
"Of course, Andrea. It's just hard being a supporter of love."
"I know. I should know. Well, let's go."
Andrea walked away by herself as Lizzie waited up for DeMarcus. He wrapped his arm around Lizzie's neck as she held onto his arm. The couple looked at the jumping Kevin while walking away.
"Shame," uttered DeMarcus. "Shame on you."
"Shame," Lizzie agreed.
"Someone should hit you, baby, one more time."
"That's right."

Getting Cheated On (Chapter 3)

The next day, the girls were at school, waiting for the dismissal bell to ring. When it did, every teen in every classroom fled into the halls and prepared for leave. Lizzie patiently walked out of class with a box wrapped in green paper in her hands. She had a smile on her face as her box was intended for a special someone. As she made a turn into a different hall, she almost passed by Kevin Christie, who was standing against the wall, typing on his smartphone. She stopped with wide eyes when she noticed him just standing there. She stepped backwards and stared at Kevin who was oblivious of her. Instead of shouting at him to capture his attention, she slapped her hand on his phone, covering the screen. A bit startled, Kevin looked up to see whose hand it was.
"Hey, Lizzie," he smiled. "What's up?"
"Don't, 'Hey, Lizzie, what's up' me," she said stern or trying to be stern. "I saw you yesterday."
"Saw me do what?"
"You know what. You were kissing that girl who looked like pop sensation Britney Spears. You know, the girl who sings, 'Baby One More Time' and 'Oops... I Did It Again'."
"Yeah, I'm familiar with her songs. Um, what are you talking about?"
"Oh, don't play dumb with me. You were kissing that girl in front of the boys' bathroom at Subway yesterday. You two were blocking the water fountains as well."
"Oh, no. Oh, no!"
"More like, 'Oh, yeah, oh, yeah'."
"Listen, I can explain."
"How? She fell on your lips and she liked it? 'Oh, baby, baby, I love it when you kiss me like that.'"
"Okay, maybe I can't explain."
"Why were you kissing another girl?"
Kevin sighed. "Because... I have another girlfriend."
"You what?!"
Kevin covered Lizzie's mouth with his hand to prevent her from yelling any louder. "Please, I don't want anyone hear." Kevin then flinched and put his hand on his chest. "Ew, you licked my palm."
"You bet I did. Why do you have another girlfriend? That's illegal!"
"No, it's not."
"It's still wrong."
"No, you're right. I've been with Lorna for a while. And for some reason, me and Andrea started connecting again. And idiotically, I let my heart get louder than my head and I confessed to Andrea that I missed her. So we got back together and I almost forgot that I was with someone else. It's dumb, I know."
"I don't get it. Your heart was so loud that you couldn't hear yourself talk?"
"Look, I still love Andrea. But I don't want to break up with Lorna."
"Then you don't really love Andrea." Lizzie set her box on the floor. "Listen, as Andrea's best friend, I have to tell her what you're doing."
"No! Please don't. It will crush Andrea."
"Andrea is my friend. If I have to crush her, I will."
"Look, let me tell Andrea."
"Okay. When are you planning to tell her?"
"Next... year?"
"Kevin!"
"I'm sorry but I can't think of a right time to tell her."
"There is no right time to tell her. But you gotta tell her anyway. She has the right to know."
"Come on, Lizzie. I'm gonna tell her. Just let me do it."
Lizzie twitched her head to move the hair out of her face. "Alright. But just know I will never look at you the same again. Since Lorna looks a lot like Britney Spears, then you're Justin Timberlake. Wait, Justin Timberlake is good. You're Kevin Federline. No, you're Jason Alexander from Seinfeld."
"I don't think it was the same Jason Alexander."
"You think it's appropriate to correct me?"
"Right. See ya."
Kevin sprinted away from Lizzie, disappearing into another hall. As Lizzie picked up her box, her boyfriend, DeMarcus, just exited from a far classroom. Noticing his sweetheart standing in the hall, he decided to sneak up on her.
"Hey, my vanilla milkshake," he greeted.
Lizzie turned around and leapt with a grin. "Hi, my hot cocoa."
DeMarcus pecked his girlfriend on the lips. "What's in the box?"
"Why don't you open it and figure it out?"
"Okay!" He took the box from Lizzie's hands and ripped up the paper. The paper fell to the floor as he opened the box from the top. He gasped once he saw what was inside. "The Eiffel tower?" he said, pulling out a shiny, black, small sculpture.
"No, silly. It's one of those things you put your napkins in at restaurants."
"Even better. I love it!" He squeezed his girlfriend who reciprocated.
"I'm glad you like it. Babe?"
DeMarcus checked out his sculpture from different angles. "Yeah, my precious snow flower?"
"Can you do me a favor?"
DeMarcus stared at Lizzie for a second. "Oh, I see. You're bribing me with lovely gifts so you can force me to do favors for you. Is that it?"
"No, baby. I wasn't going to do that until now. I really need your help."
"Alright. What do you want me to do?"
"It's Kevin."
"You want me to do Kevin?"
"No. I meant that Kevin is cheating on Andrea."
"He's doing somebody else?"
"Apparently. I just spoke to him and said that he wants to tell Andrea that he's cheating on her. But God, the Holy Ghosts and Casper only know when he's going to do that. So I need you to speak to him."
"Now, baby, I can't just go around and beat people up."
"No, I don't want you to hit him. I want to do that. No, I just need you to catch him after school tomorrow and tell him that you want to cheat on me."
"But, babe, I don't want to cheat on you. I love you."
"I know but-- Hang on a seccy. You love me?"
"Yeah."
"I love you, too."
"You do?"
"Yeah!"
"Oh, come here, girl."
DeMarcus held onto Lizzie and lifted her up, peppering her lips with tens of kisses. When he put her down, Lizzie immediately pulled away.
"I'm sorry but we have to focus on Kevin."
"Focus on Kevin."
"Right. So can you do this one little favor for me?"
"Of course, girl. You know I'd do anything for you."
Lizzie grinned. "Thanks, babe. Hit me, baby, one more time."
"Why would I do that?"

Getting Cheated On (Chapter 2)

"Why are you back with Kevin Christie?" interrogated Madeline.
"I've told you many times that Kevin is my first love," responded Andrea.
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean he has to be your last."
"Well, I'm not like you, with your many boyfriends."
"Uh, I don't have many boyfriends, thank you very much. I am with Homer and I'm happy with him so I'm gonna be with him forever."
"Amen, sister!" said Lizzie, raising her sealed cup of soda. "Praise love!"
"I feel you, Lizzie," agreed Skye, "but Andrea cannot be with Kevin."
"Oh, why not?" asked Andrea, squinting her eyes at Skye.
"Well, first of all, you said you were never gonna be with Kevin again."
"Uh, can a girl change her mind?"
                "Yeah but you lied."
"The heart wants what the heart wants."
                "Yeah but you still lied."
"Listen, if Andrea is happier with Kevin, then she should be with Kevin," said Debra.
                Andrea shrugged with a smile.
"But couldn't you be happier with William Wheatley from your history class?" Skye suggested.
"William is twenty-four years old," said Andrea.
"But he's really cute," said Madeline.
"Guys, I don't want anybody else. I want Kevin. He's the one for me. I know it."
"Andrea, if you want to be with Kevin, I will support every step of the way," said Lizzie. "And every step on the aisle."
"You think they're going to get married?" asked Skye.
"Yes! You, Andy, would look so pretty in a white gown."
"Oh, I can't wear too much white," said Andrea. "My tan might get on it."
"Then don't put on tanner on your wedding day," recommended Madeline.
"And walk down the aisle pale? Nuh-uh, honey. I don't think so."
"Can I pick the flowers for your bouquet?" asked Debra.
"That depends. What flowers do you think I want?"
                "Marigolds."
                "That's correct."
"Guys, why are we talking about weddings?" questioned Skye. "We haven't even graduated high school yet."
"You're just jealous because Jeffrey will never propose to you," said Lizzie.
"I am not jealous! Wait, what makes you think Jeffrey won't propose to me?"
"Because you haven't told him, 'I love you' yet," answered Madeline.
                Skye scoffed. "So?"
                "You're horrible. Is everybody done?"
The girls said yes in their own ways.
"Okay." Madeline got up from her seat. "Boy, I can't wait to burn off these calories at Brick Bodies."
"Before you that, I need to pee," admitted Lizzie.
"Alright, you go ahead," Skye allowed, standing up. "We'll wait in the car for you."
"Okay." Lizzie got up and rushed towards the hall in the back of the restaurant.
The rest of the girls picked up their trash from the table and threw it away in the same trashcan by the entrance. They left the restaurant to sit in Madeline's car. As they sit and waited for Lizzie, she made it to the hall, led by the other hall, where the door to the boys' bathroom was on one end and the door to the girls' bathroom was on the other end. She looked at one of the doors to see if it had the sign of the human figure with a skirt on it. The door she was looking at did not have the figure on it. She also noticed a couple standing by the door, embracing and necking each other. As a supporter of love, she almost felt glad looking at the lovebirds. When the couple pulled away for air, the girl, who looked like a young Britney Spears, started speaking.
"Oh, Kevin, I love it when you kiss me like that."
When Lizzie heard "Kevin", she had to sneak a little peek. She slanted to the right side to get a better look of the guy. The couple's eyes were locked on each other so neither of them noticed Lizzie. She recognized the guy's dirty blond, hazel eyes and perfect smile. That's when she realized that that girl's Kevin was Andrea's Kevin.
"Then maybe I should kiss you like that again," Kevin said to the girl.
Lizzie stood up straight and made a face of shock. Kevin leaned into the girl and kissed her passionately again. Lizzie wanted to scream but she didn't want to startle the two. So she kept her scream in and did what she knew best: she ran. She ran out of the bathroom hall into the hallway, then running across the restaurant through the door.
Since Madeline's car was parked right outside of the restaurant, Lizzie instantly found it, although she was super frantic. She opened the door to the backseats and tried to jump in. Skye and Debra, who were sitting in the back, scooted down to make space for Lizzie who desperately needed it. When Lizzie got in and closed the door, Andrea, who was of course in the front passenger seat, poked her head within the space between her and Madeline's seat to look at Lizzie.
"I thought you had to pee," Andrea told her.
"Oh, I did," Lizzie lied, buckling her seat belt.
                "That was fast," noticed Skye.
                "Well, I'm a fast pee-er!"

Getting Cheated On (Chapter 1)

The sun was shining through the windows of the cafeteria as the teenagers rushed in like a rhino stampede for lunch. The girls entered without Andrea and some of them went away to receive school lunch while the others sat down at their usual table. When four of the girls were at the table, the daily conversation had begun.
Lizzie's boyfriend, DeMarcus, later arrived. He hopped into the space on the seat next to Lizzie and wrapped his arm around her shoulders. Lizzie grinned at him before they pecked each other on the lips.
"Ooh, girl!" he uttered. "It's like kissing two sprinkles. Just so sweet and perfect."
"Thank you," Lizzie smiled. "It's my new cherry lip balm."
"Ooh, cherry, cherry, cherry. Girl, I could just call you 'Cherry'."
"You know what?" asked Skye. "I'm surprised that you've been sitting at this table for so long and I haven't thrown up once."
"Good for you!" said Lizzie.
"Where's Andrea?" asked Debra.
"I don't know," responded Skye. "But she's coming. Don't fret."
"I'll fret if I want to. But I'm not fretting."
"How fun was spring break?" asked Madeline with a smile.
"So much fun."
"I know. Skye, tell your aunt, Felicia, that we are so thankful for her taking us to her beach house."
"I will," said Skye, "if I feel like talking to her."
"Skye, why are you so mean to your aunt?" questioned Debra.
"I don't want to talk about it."
"We're friends, Skye," reminded Lizzie. "You're gonna have to talk about it."
Skye groaned. "Fine. Well, when I was in middle school, I tried out for the cheerleading squad."
Madeline gasped.
"Shut up. Anyway, my mom wasn't able to pick me up that day so she sent my aunt, Felicia, to give me a ride home. Instead of waiting in the car for me, she came inside my school and watched me audition. After I failed, she decided to audition."
"Shut yo' mouth," Madeline said.
"It's not a lie. And guess what?"
"What?" said Debra.
"She got in."
Madeline laughed.
"Yeah, she was a cheerleader. But for, like, a week because it was obviously illegal for her to be a cheerleader there. But still, it was just not cool."
"So... you're mad at your aunt because she became a cheerleader and you didn't?" asked Debra.
"Oh, no. I immediately stopped caring about those tryouts because I learned that I hate cheerleaders. Except for you, Lizzie. You rock."
"Then why are you mad at Felicia at all?" questioned Madeline.
"Because everyone at that school teased me, claiming that I should've been the aunt and Aunt Felicia should've been a student. They called me, 'Aunt Skye' for at least five months."
"Does your aunt know?"
"Yeah, she knows. I let her know every single day. I call her on the phone and say, 'Still remember?'"
"You're lying."
"Yeah, I know I'm exaggerating a little bit. But she knows! And I can't let it go."
"But you're Skye," reminded Debra. "You don't care about anything. And you care about some cheerleading tryouts?"
"I don't care about the tryouts. I care about the uniform that she wore which the football team got laminated and pasted it on the wall outside of the locker rooms so people can be reminded of the week in which my aunt was a cheerleader, dancing with thirteen-year-old girls, therefore, referring me as Aunt Skye Carter. And it wasn't just that. I was the butt of period jokes for half of those five months. I dreaded the day I had to throw away a tampon and a witness would say, 'Hey, Aunt Skye, you visiting Aunt Flo?'"
"So... that's the only thing you care about?"
Skye paused for a bit. "Yeah," she nodded.
"Nothing else but that?"
"Yeah."
"Well... that's kinda dumb."
"And a bit personal," added DeMarcus, who had a bit of disturbance in his face.
"I know it's dumb and personal," said Skye, "but I can't let it go. So because of it, I hate Aunt Felicia."
"You don't hate Aunt Felicia," said Madeline.
"Fine. I love her and hate her."
"Well, love her or hate her," started Lizzie, "I think Aunt Fee is fun to be around."
"Will you stop calling her, 'Aunt Fee'? That's not her name."
"Well, it's not the name you want to give her," said Madeline.
"If Aunt Fee likes to be called 'Aunt Fee', then I will keep calling her Aunt Fee," clarified Lizzie.
Skye rolled her eyes and sighed.
"Just call her later and tell her that Madeline is thankful for our vacation at her beach house," demanded Madeline.
"It's not even her beach house," corrected Skye. "It was an ex-boyfriend of hers when she was in her twenties... who's dead."
Lizzie gasped. "We vacationed at a dead man's house?"
"Oh, relax. He didn't die there. But yeah, it was his house."
"Well, dead or not, I had fun at that house," Madeline confessed. "Wouldn't you agree, Skye?"
"Yeah, I guess."
"What does Aunt Felicia look like?" asked DeMarcus. "Is she hot?"
"DeMarcus!" Madeline called. "Don't say that in front of your girlfriend."
"Oh, it's okay," said Lizzie. "Aunt Fee is smoking hot. She's in her early thirties but she looks twenty-nine."
"She is pretty attractive."
"Yeah, and Aunt Fee is, like, a heartbreaker. She said that there are five guys waiting in line for her."
"Yeah, at Burger King," muttered Skye, playing with the food on her tray.
"Skye!" Madeline called. "Stop being mean to your aunt."
"What? She does work at Burger King."
"Anyway, Aunt Fee is, like, a MILF."
"But she's not a mom, so more like an 'ILF'."
"Since she's an aunt, the correct term would be 'AILF'," said Debra.
"That's almost, like, hard to say," mentioned Madeline.
"Guys, can you stop talking about my aunt like that?" demanded Skye. "It's grossing me out."
"Uh, you're the one who said she was an ILF," reminded Madeline.
"You got me there. But let's stop talking about my aunt, okay?"
"Okay," agreed Debra. "I enjoyed relaxing on the beach."
"I enjoyed the party on the beach," admitted Lizzie. "Sorry you couldn't be there, baby."
"It's fine," said DeMarcus, shrugging. "But I missed you."
"I missed you, too."
The two pecked each other on the lips again.
Skye looked up to the ceiling and groaned like a zombie. "You two are so gross!"
Madeline started to say, "Remember at the party when Aunt Fee started to--"
Skye cut her off by groaning off again. "I said stop talking about my Aunt Fee!"
"Hey, you just called her Aunt Fee," Lizzie pointed out.
"I did? No! You guys said it so much, I started saying it. Ugh!"
"Why do you keep going, 'Ugh'?" asked Debra.
"I'm so tired," answered Skye before groaning once more.
"Then go to sleep," Madeline said sarcastically. Then she mocked Skye's groan.
Skye groaned again. "Very funny."
DeMarcus got into the fun by groaning like Skye but with a jolly smile.
Suddenly, Andrea entered the cafeteria. But she came in hand-in-hand with a boy. He had dark blonde hair, green eyes and smooth skin. He was actually a familiar boy. The two stood in front of her friends' table, automatically grabbing their attention.
"Hey, guys," Andrea said with a grin. "Guess what? Me and Kevin are back together."
The girls at the table reacted by groaning all at once, but not out of mockery; this time, out of irritation.
